To renew an RN or LPN license in Idaho, a licensee must accomplish at least two learning activities identified under IDAPA 23.01.01.061 pertaining to either practice, education, or professional engagement within the two 2- year renewal period prior to renewal. Continuing educational course options include: 15 contact hours of CE relative to the practice of nursing.

Required Courses
Idaho has no specific course requirements however all continuing education courses must be relevant to the practice of nursing.
License Expiration Dates
Registered Nurses - August 31st of every odd-numbered year
Licensed Practical Nurses - August 31st of every even-numbered year
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses - August 31st of every odd-numbered year
A notice of renewal will be provided on or before of July 1st. The orgininal, completed, renewal application and renewal fee must be submitted to the Board (either by post-marked or electronically dated) no later than August 31st. Licenses not renewed prior to September 1st will be lapsed and therefore invalid.

Audits and Retaining CE Records
"Each applicant must maintain documentation of meeting this requirement for the duration of the current 2-year renewal period. If you are selected for an audit, you will be contacted to submit your documentation to the Idaho Board of Nursing and must provide such documentation within 30 days of the request."
