Hawaii Board of Nursing Continuing Education

Total Hours Required: RN / LPN 30 hours | Renewal Cycle: 2 Years

Under Hawaii Statute 457-9.2, Hawaii RN's and LPN's are required to complete "one of the learning activity options recognized by the Board within the two-year period preceding the renewal date" (§457-9.2). Completion of 30 contact hours of continuing education activities is included as one of the options. Required Courses

Hawaii has no specific course requirements for RN's or LPN's.

License Expiration Dates

In Hawaii, nursing licenses expire every two years (biennially) on June 30th. Learning activities will need to be completed by June 30th for license renewal. Audits and Retaining CE Records

Upon completion of one of the learning activity options, licensees must maintain their documentation for at least 4 years as the Board may request your records at any time during this period for the purposes of conducting an audit.
