Up to 20 hours of approved home study courses shall be accepted per biennium. Home study courses require a certificate of completion and an examination (64B8-45.001(2), F.A.C.). Note: Not more than 10 hours in management, risk management, personal growth, and educational techniques are permitted per biennium.

Required Courses

Prevention of Medical Errors  | 2 Hrs - Including a study of root-cause analysis, error reduction and prevention and patient safety. Required per 64B8-45.001(7), F.A.C.

Human Trafficking | 1 Hr

In accordance with § 456.0341, F.S., each licensee or certificate holder is required to have completed a 1-hour, Board approved Human Trafficking course by January 1st, 2021. Note: This course in not part of renewal but is a requirement for licensees.

First Time Renewal Required Courses

Dietitian’s and Nutritionist’s renewing a license for the first time, who were licensed in the first year of the biennium, are required to complete a total of 30 hours of continuing education in Dietetics and Nutrition which includes 2 hours of Prevention of Medical Errors and 3 hours of HIV/AIDS.

Dietitian’s and Nutritionist’s renewing a license for the first time who were licensed in the second year of the biennium are exempt from the continuing education requirements for that biennium but they are required to complete 2 hours of medical errors and 3 HIV/AIDS (64B8-45.001, F.A.C.).
