Alabama Board of Nursing CE Requirements
Under Alabama Administrative Code 610-X-4-.08, Alabama RN's and LPN's are required to complete a minimum of 24 contact hours of CE every 2-years.

Required Courses
Each new Alabama licensee is required to complete a four (4) hour mandatory class prior to their first renewal. The class is broken-down into five (5) individual segments shown below, all of which are free CE courses available on the ABN website at https://www.abn.alabama.gov/alabama-nursing-resource-center/online/

License Expiration Dates
In Alabama, the RN & LPN licenses renew every two years, with RN licenses expiring on December 31st of even-numbered years, and LPN licenses expiring on December 31st of odd-numbered years. Audits and Retaining CE Records
As a Board-recognized CE provider, courses from MedCEC™ are accepted by the ABN however the licensee must upload their MedCEC™ Certificates of Completion directly to their ABN individual CE Record in My Profile on the ABN website. Licensees must upload at least twenty-four (24) contact hours of CE to their CE Record as part of the renewal process. The Board conducts random audits in order to determine compliance with CE requirements for license renewal. Licensees are responsible for maintaining CE records and submitting records upon request by the Board.
